Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) Hair Transplant

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) Hair Transplant

posted in: Hair Loss | 0

A follicular unit extraction (FUE) hair transplant is a minimally invasive procedure where follicular unit grafts, or hair follicles, are individually removed from a donor area and then transplanted to the balding area. Unlike the follicular unit transplantation (FUT) technique, there is no linear scar and no sutures required.

Watch the animation below to see how the FUE method works!

Procedure: In the FUE method, grafts are removed by drilling small holes in the scalp and extracting the follicular units one at a time. Rather than a single linear scar, this technique leaves many small circular scars which can be less noticeable through extremely short hair. Follicular units containing one to four hairs each are strategically placed in the recipient (balding) area. This is where the physician’s artistry comes in to achieve the most naturally looking results.

Results: The tiny incisions made in the donor area are expected to heal in a few days. In approximately three months after the procedure, the hair grafts in the recipient area should begin to grow like your normal hair. You should notice significant growth in 6 months.
